Quilt Guild meeting to feature pictorial quilt artist

FALLBROOK – Members of the Fallbrook Quilt Guild will meet on Thursday, September 2 at the Community Center located at 341 Heald Lane. The business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a social and refreshment time with the program beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The program for the September meeting will feature David Taylor, an internationally recognized quilter from Steamboat Springs, Colo. He began his journey into the quilting world in 1999. Since then he has been the recipient of the Fairfield Master Award for Contemporary Quilt Artistry from the International Quilt Association.

In 2007, Taylor took home “Best of Show” honors at the Spring International Quilt Festival in Chicago. His quilts, crafted by hand and meticulously quilted on his Bernina 160 home machine, achieve a realistic effect through his fabric choices.

A three day workshop on pictorial appliqué will be held from September 3 to 5 where he will be sharing his techniques for machine appliqué that result in artistic replications of the natural world.

Visitors to the monthly Quilt Guild meeting are asked for a $3 donation to cover program costs. For more workshop information contact Elvia Dawson, at (951) 694-8023. For membership information, contact Cheryl Jeter at (760) 231-7746.
