Fallbrook Library calls for artists

FALLBROOK – In anticipation of the opening of the new Fallbrook Library in early January 2011, a Call For Artists has been announced. The new library will have an art-themed focus, with many original commissioned permanent pieces of art displayed. The library is expected to be the cultural center of Fallbrook. In addition to the permanent collection, artists will have the opportunity to submit their work for a visiting collection.

The Friends of the Fallbrook Library (FOFL) website,

http://www.fallbrooklibraryfriends.org, contains additional information about the program and can be used to upload samples of artists’ works. If the art is chosen it will be displayed for approximately six weeks.

There are no required fees, donations, or other obligations for hanging art in the Fallbrook Library. Visiting collections should not be considered as a sales venue and no price cards will accompany the description of each piece, but artists may have an information page handout at the front desk for patrons who wish additional information. All media will be considered and submitted art samples will be archived for review for all future shows.

The first exhibit will be a photography show and the theme will be “My Fallbrook.” Everyone, professional or amateur is encouraged to submit samples of their photography. The show is expected to be up for the Gala Opening celebration on January 15, 2011. For further information call Janice Phoenix, Art Acquisitions, (760) 451-9851.
