Camp Pendleton firefighters burn more than 400 acres

TEMECULA - Firefighters on Camp Pendleton used controlled flames to remove accumulated brush and dead wood on an isolated northeast area of the post, and warned Temecula-area residents to expect smoke in surrounding areas.

The Camp Pendleton Fire Department conducted a seasonal hazard reduction burn in Case Springs, an isolated area near the northeast boundary of the base, according to Camp Pendleton officials.

Today's burn was part of a two-day effort to strengthen the recently renovated fire break which runs along this area of the base.

Firefighters burned more than 400 acres between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday, in the same area, west of Temecula.

Controlled burn scheduled on Camp Pendleton Friday and Saturday

CAMP PENDLETON - The Camp Pendleton Fire Department is scheduled to conduct a seasonal hazard reduction burn Friday (June 3) and Saturday (June 4) in the Case Springs area of the base.
