Each member of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors has an annual $2 million discretionary Neighborhood Reinvestment Program budget for projects which promote public benefit. The county supervisors are not restricted to providing grants to organizations only within their district; a grant may be made to an entity in another district which benefits citizens of the district whose supervisor provided the funding. Such was the case when Supervisor Kristin Gaspar recommended the use of District 3 Neighborhood Reinvestment...

Not long ago a friend of mine invited me to a Business Men’s Fellowship meeting he attends and said that it is a group of men who fellowship together over breakfast every Saturday morning at Denny’s restaurant here in Fallbrook. I accepted his invitation, and I’m glad I did. It was a small group. I knew only one person in attendance, named Jack, in addition to Johann who had invited me. Jack had attended the same Bible study I frequent. I immediately felt welcome. Estes shared what had recently transpired in his minis...

  • Opposing sides need to be civil

    Updated Apr 21, 2018
    2

To those who attended the Bonsall Union School District board meeting Thursday, May 12, let’s try and be a bit more civil. The contentious topic was the proposed site for the new Bonsall high school – Gird Road. In full transparency, I am on the Save the Gird Valley committee who wants the school board to consider other sites. I respect the passion and strong opinions of those who want the school to be on Gird Road, but yelling at us and telling us to move if we don’t like it is not effective and is downright rude. You know...

  • How to celebrate July 4th without fire hazards

    Updated Apr 21, 2018

Last 4th of July, our town did not have fireworks at The Grand Tradition. It was due to the complaints from neighbors regarding the hazardous conditions and fire potential. This year, is there a communitywide event happening? There must be a way to celebrate our Nation’s independence without the fire hazards. I suggest that neighbors who are close to The Grand Tradition should spray their properties with water to lessen the chance of embers igniting their homes. Mark Rutherfurd The Grand Tradition neighbor Boy Scout Troop 7...
