We are the ones we have been waiting for

“War is Hell!” This is not just a flip expression, it is the terrible truth, now being experienced by our youth in the Middle East. “God is love.” This not just a nice saying, it is an empyrean maxim. We as individuals make our own choice as to which call we hear, the reality we embrace. Nations and their leaders also make such a choice.

One cannot embrace war and pronounce it “a call from a place beyond the stars” unless that place is a world called Hades. This vague, nebulous phrase used by George Bush on the day of his second inauguration demonstrates the delusion and deceit of the mind. War is Hell, and Mr. Bush has chosen Hell, and its terror has been unleashed. If we receive our call from the world of hate and fear, we as a people will languish and perish. As we destroy others, we destroy ourselves.

There is another world beyond the stars from which mankind receives message of tolerance, compassion, peace and unity. This is the world of Love. If we receive our call from the world of Love, our spirits will flourish and we as a people will prosper. The love we give “unto the least of these” opens new worlds of joy for us and we are bonded stronger to the One who is Love.

We cannot await some great prophet to save us and show us the way. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the ones history has been waiting for. It is up to us, now, here in this unique place in history, to receive the right call from the right place beyond the stars.
