Rotaries donate to Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center

On October 27, the Fallbrook Village Rotary, along with its international partner, Club Rotario Tijuana Playas, and other contributing chapters including the Fallbrook Rotary and Bonsall Rotary, with additional matching funds from Rotary International, presented a check to Dr. Richard Haas of the UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center facilities for $28,804. Dr. Haas is a Professor of Neurosciences and Pediatrics at UCSD and co-director of UCSD’s Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center. The funds will be used to purchase a diagnostic machine, the Oroboros Oxygraph 2K, for Dr. Haas’ lab. This machine allows for needle biopsies for patients with mitochondrial disease.
