First-time sellers learn from experienced sisters

FALLBROOK — It’s that time of year again when everyone will see those eager and excited girls in uniform coming down the street to entice them with those wonderful Girl Scout cookies.

Selling the cookies is considered a wonderful learning experience for the girls. Participation in the sales helps develop their self-confidence while teaching them many valuable skills, such as how to set and work toward goals, meet and greet people, handle money, follow through on a promise to deliver a product and develop sales and marketing skills.

Cookie sales began on January 20. Local members encourage anyone who is not an aficionado of things sweet to consider purchasing cookies for military members overseas while receiving a tax-deduction for the contribution.

New this year:

• All eight varieties now have zero grams trans fat with the same great taste customers have always loved.

• In response to customer requests, Sugar-Free Little Brownies have been added.

• San Diego Girl Scouts and their customers will send their one-millionth box of Operation Thin Mint cookies to deployed US military troops this year.
