Car Club donates to Historical Society

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Historical Society patrons recently met near their new barn site to receive a donation from Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) Past President and car show chairman Fred Ragland. The gift was in response to the society’s recent request for pledges to support the barn building project, the largest society endeavor since the main museum building was completed in 1992. It is hoped that the annual Old Timers’ Picnic will be held there on June 24 and that more donations from the general public will help the society reach that goal.

“This is a big, big year for us,” Cecelia Njust said. “The Fallbrook Historical Society was chartered in 1977, so this year it turns 30 years old!”

The donation from FVCC is from proceeds of the 2006 car show, the annual affair at the high school on Memorial Day weekend that hosts 300 show cars and more than 10,000 visitors. Registration Chairman Glen Patterson has been receiving mandatory pre-registrations for car entries and for swap meet spaces since January and the original artwork for the new poster is underway.

FVCC members involved with the car show include President Tom Bergeson, Show General Chairman Tom Long, Field Committee Chairman Marv VanVoorst and swap meet organizer John Waugh. During this year’s show there will be breakfast and lunch available and the show is again free to the viewing public, with car judging starting at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m.
