Main Street Shoes cares for customers

the article on Main Street Shoes proprietor Richard Verrett [“Comfort, quality, style at Main Street Shoes,” 12/27/07] that demonstrates his true caring for his customers.

A few weeks ago my severely handicapped mother, who resides in the Fallbrook Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), told me that her shoes no longer fit and that her feet were hurting. I puzzled over how to get her properly fitting shoes, as she can no longer leave the SNF.

I dropped into Main Street Shoes and spoke with Richard. I asked if I could take a few shoes to the SNF to find the best fit. He replied, “Yes, you can do that, but I would rather go to the SNF and measure her feet to make sure that she gets a proper fit.” We arranged to meet at the SNF the next morning before work.

Richard arrived with his shoe measurer, a pair of shoes that might fit based on my description of my mother’s needs and an armful of shoe catalogs in case they didn’t fit. He carefully measured my mother’s feet and discussed what type of shoes that she wanted. He came up with the perfect shoes for her. She is very happy and thankful.

Needless to say, I am very grateful to him and will certainly buy my shoes from him in the future.
