Karen Ann Kooyman

Friends and family will commemorate the life of Karen Ann Kooyman, 48, of Fallbrook at funeral services Monday. Karen left us suddenly Saturday, August 3, 2008, after a tragic automobile accident as the family was returning from vacationing in southern Utah.

Born June 8, 1960, in Fullerton, CA, Karen was a lifelong resident of Fallbrook, where her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Kenneth Kooyman, reside. She is survived by children Scott (Charollotte) Holyoak, Nebraska, Randy (Brandy) Holyoak, Nebraska, Michelle (Chris) Nielsen, Nebraska, Brian Kooyman, Utah, and Paul Kooyman, Fallbrook; nine grandchildren; sister Kaylene (Kelly) Tracy, Washington; and brother Ken (Emily) Kooyman, Fallbrook.

Karen was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various callings. She had a passion for family history and was a past president of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She was skilled in animal husbandry, winning ribbons and prizes in numerous state and county fairs, often participating with her children or other family members. Her lively spirit and keen sense of humor will be missed.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel, 621 South Stage Coach, Fallbrook.
