FALLBROOK — Internationally known quilt artist Gloria Loughman will be the featured speaker at the Fallbrook Quilt Guild meeting on Thursday, October 1.
Loughman is well known for her art quilts that reflect the Australian landscape and its vegetation. Her quilts feature extensive machine embroidery and hand-dyed and -painted fabrics.
She has received several major awards for her work at quilt exhibitions in Australia, the United States, Japan and the Netherlands.
In addition to her presentation at the meeting, Loughman will be conducting a two-day workshop, “Escape to the Rainforest,” on Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, at the Fallbrook Public Utility District board room. Fallbrook Quilt Guild meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Community Center at 341 Heald Lane. The business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., is followed by a social/refreshment time and the program begins at approximately 7:30.
