Sullivan Middle School wins big at Disneyland music festival

BONSALL –The Bonsall Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that grants funds for programs in support of academic excellence in the Bonsall Union School District, is delighted to announce results from Sullivan Middle School’s recent participation in ‘The Music in the Parks’ festival held at Disneyland on May 8 and May 22 in Anaheim. Music in the Parks is an organization that provides amusement park music competitions and student music festivals for student bands, student orchestras, student choirs and other student music groups around the country.

Under the direction of Sullivan Middle School music director Stacy Sharpe-Pecore, and choreographers Morgan and Taylor Sharpe, the Sullivan Middle School show choirs took the following awards at the festival: Show Choir I and II took first place with a “Superior” rating. Show Choir I also received recognition in the Overall Junior High Choral Sweepstakes. Show Choir IV took third place with an “Excellent” rating and Show Choir III took second place with an “Excellent” rating.

The Sullivan Middle School Jazz Ensemble took first place honors with an “Excellent” rating and Overall Junior High Jazz Ensemble.

Individual honors were equally impressive: Janae Jackson took Overall Junior High Vocalist singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Baylee Valentine took Overall Junior High vocalist singing “Blue Skies.”

To support music programs in Bonsall schools, you are invited to purchase tickets to Bonsallpalooza 2010, the second annual benefit concert scheduled for June 5 at Pala Casino Spa & Resort. Tickets are $35 and proceeds benefit Bonsall Union School District.
