Fallbrook can stand tall

I want to thank all those who attended the 9/11 memorial ceremony in Fallbrook this year. I was honored to be able to speak and truly humbled by the experience.

Individually, I would like to thank San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn, Chamber of Commerce Chairman and event organizer Bob Hillery, and Fire Marshall/Division Chief Sid Morel, who was instrumental in getting me out of New York and into California for this event. All the personnel I met from the fire stations I visited were of course professional and courteous, but moreover friendly and receptive.

From the time my wife, Regina, and I arrived in town we were welcomed warmly and made to feel as if we really belonged. I am not one for the spotlight and was blown away by the photographs, handshakes and warm wishes.

The residents of Fallbrook and the whole North County area are truly remarkable. I will always be proud of being from New York, but it’s not the size of the population, rather the quality of character which is important. And with that Fallbrook can stand tall with any place, any where. The importance of God, country and community is everywhere.

Although, for the 10 year anniversary, I will need to be back in my firehouse next year, my thoughts throughout the year and especially that day will be with you all. You will always have a friend in New York. Thank you most sincerely.
