Single-engine plane crashes at Fallbrook airpark

A single-engine plane crashed Thursday morning, November 25 after the pilot overshot the runway.

According to Bo Donovan, the Fallbrook airpark manager, the plane had come in from Henderson, Nevada, close to Las Vegas at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

“[The pilot] just landed long and had a bit of a tail wind,” said Donovan. “He landed on the 1-8, but he should have on 3-6 runway. He nearly landed in Color Spot [Nursery].”

Donovan stated that the plane had two flat tires from skidding, and had its prop strike the ground when the plane sunk into the soft ground.”

No other damage was reported, and the pilot suffered no injuries. Donovan stated that the airpark had to divert to other airports, or cause other planes to circle as the runway was closed for documentation and cleanup from the crash.
