Residents get ready to strut their mutts at Paws in the Park Dog Fair to benefit Foundation for Senior Care

FALLBROOK – A day of fun is in the making for dog lovers and their best dog friends at the sixth annual Ruth Redmann Paws in the Park Dog Fair on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Live Oak Park.

“This tongue-in-cheek dog show is very entertaining as well as a whole lot of fun for people and their dogs, and even for those folks who don’t have dogs,” said Jack Rockwell, president of the Foundation for Senior Care, the organization that sponsors the event.

The community is invited to come browse the vendor booths, watch a variety of demonstrations, bid on specialty items in the silent auction, feast on an array of mouth-watering food prepared by Dad’s New York Hot Dogs Plus, and participate in the dog show events where prizes will be awarded to canine competitors in a number of categories.

Registration is required for all dog show events and participants must be over the age of 18. Pre-registration is encouraged; the registration process and collection of fees will begin at 9 a.m. the morning of the dog show. Cost is only $4 per event to pre-register, and $5 per event when registering the day of the dog show. Pet owners may call the foundation office at (760) 723-7570 or visit http://www.foundationforseniorcare.org and click on the Paws in the Park link to download a registration form.

Anyone interested in participating in Paws in the Park as a sponsor or vendor is encouraged to contact executive director, Dotty Metcalf at (760) 723-7570 x5. Proceeds from the dog fair will be used to support the Foundation’s three core programs.

Dogs are the only type of animals allowed at the event. They must be leashed at all times and kept under control, have current vaccinations including rabies, be sociable with other dogs and people. Participants are asked to come prepared to clean up after their dogs (pooper-scooper bags will be provided). Keep female dogs in heat at home. Bring a pet only if it enjoys being around other dogs and people. Come prepared to have a fun-filled day with family, friends and furry four-legged friends!
