Ticktockers Bosch and Hayward complete leadership projects

FALLBROOK – Christina Bosch and Hayley Hayward, both Ticktockers with the San Luis Rey Chapter of National Charity League, recently completed leadership projects designed to help children in need.

Bosch, a junior at Fallbrook High School and a fifth year Ticktocker, created the Teen Angel rack at the Angel Shop in Fallbrook. Prior to her project, the Angel Shop did not have a teen-specific area and clothing was intermingled with adult sizes.

“I had all these clothes that I didn’t wear anymore so I thought, why not donate them so that kids who don’t have the money can have them?” said Bosch. “I wanted to keep [my donation] in the community to help kids in Fallbrook.” Not only did Bosch donate her own clothes, she encouraged her fellow Ticktockers to do the same. With a significant number of donations, the Teen Angel rack was born.

In addition, Bosch organized a volunteer work schedule for eleventh grade Ticktockers to help at the shop. The girls hang up new donations and make sure a good supply of clothing exists.

Hayward, a junior at Calvary Christian School in Vista and a fifth year Ticktocker, organized an undergarment drive for Stand Up for Kids in Oceanside. Stand Up for Kids is an organization that provides shelter, food and basic necessities to homeless teens.

“When I found out that the kids at Stand Up really need underwear, that’s when I decided to do a leadership project,” said Hayward. “I went to all of the Ticktocker grade level groups and spoke about Stand Up and how the kids needed underwear. Hayward said the response from her fellow Ticktockers was “enormous” and she collected 295 pairs of new underwear which she delivered to Stand Up for Kids.

“The volunteers at Stand Up said they were ecstatic with our donation,” said Hayward. “I would definitely do something like this again. They really appreciated it!”
