Warmer temps expected again today

Temperatures remained quite warm overnight. Along the coastal foothills and lower mountain slopes they were still in the 80s prior to sunrise. Once the inversion breaks around mid morning, temperatures are expected to climb rapidly and be just as warm if not warmer by noon as they were on Wednesday. Expect highs to climb above 100 degrees over inland Orange County, the Inland Empire, the inland valleys of San Diego County, and the deserts. Coastal locations will be also be very warm for the second day in a row with highs in the 80s and 90s. Over the mountains temperatures will range from the mid 90s over the lower and mid slopes to the 80s at the ridges. On Friday the high aloft weakens and onshore flow returns. This will cause the coastal and valley areas to cool at least 10 degrees, but only bring slight cooling to the mountains and deserts. Residents not used to this heat should be extra cautious with outdoor activities.
