Western Eagle Foundation to deliver 100 Thanksgiving dinners to Camp Pendleton families

Temecula, CA (November 16, 2011) – Western Eagle Foundation, in partnership with the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and Henry’s Farmers Market, will be delivering food to 100 families at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base on Tuesday, November 22, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The need for food assistance came from the Chaplin at the Base, who reached out to Western Eagle based on past Thanksgiving support.

“We are thankful for our military families who dedicate their lives to serve our country,” says Todd Sieja, CEO at Western Eagle Foundation. “We also give thanks to our sponsors whose generous donations allow us to continue the fight against hunger in our local communities.”

The non-profit recently received a donation of 200 turkeys from Morongo; 100 of those frozen birds are now destined for Camp Pendleton. As a Thanksgiving donation campaign, three local Henry’s markets sent canned foods and dry goods to be combined with even more food from the Western Eagle food bank. Each of the 100 families at the Base will receive a frozen turkey and a box of food to make a bountiful holiday meal with all the trimmings. Stuffing, pies, dinner rolls, and vegetables are among the items that will fill the packages valued at a retail price of $45 each.

In addition, Western Eagle is sending another 10 large turkeys to help the officials at Camp Pendleton serve a hearty Thanksgiving dinner to the Active Duty Military Personnel who will be separated from their own families during the holiday.

Western Eagle will distribute the remaining 90 turkeys amongst its less fortunate volunteers and to its loyal community partners who feed people in need within the region.

Western Eagle Foundation is dedicated to feeding the hungry. For more information about the foundation, please call (951) 695-7206 or visit http://www.western-eagle.org.
