High wind warnings and wind advisories issued

RIVERSIDE, SAN DIEGO, SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES -The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 1 pm pst Saturday for Riverside County mountains, San Diego County mountains and valleys.

Winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph, with the strongest winds near foothills and in the valleys.

Impacts: the winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high profile vehicles. Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines.

A high wind warning remains in effect until 1 pm Saturday for areas of San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire-San Bernardino County Mountains-Santa Ana Mountains And Foothills-

winds: areas of northeast winds 25 to 35 mph...with gusts to 60 mph. Occasional local gusts in excess of 65 mph are possible in the most favored locations, including through and below the Cajon and Banning passes in the Inland Empire and the Fremont and Modjeska Canyons in the Santa Ana Mountains.

Location: strongest winds through and below passes and canyons and near coastal foothills.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Flood advisory cancelled, showers hit northern San Diego County

Urban and small stream flood advisory has been lifted for San Bernardino and the Inland Empire. Showers and thunderstorms have moved south into northern San Diego County.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MOUNTAINS-SAN BERNARDINO AND Riverside COUNTY VALLEYS -THE INLAND EMPIRE-The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for minor flooding of urban areas in Northwestern Riverside county in southern California and Southwestern San Bernardino county until 5:15 pm.

At 3:38 pm doppler radar continued to indicate moderate to heavy rain associated with thunderstorms near Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Riverside. Heavy rain may cause minor roadway flooding, especially in low lying intersections or other poorly drained areas. These heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to taper off later this afternoon.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams, and ponding of water in urban areas. Highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.

Cold Storm, funnel clouds possible

A cold storm with funnel clouds has moved into southern California this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The cold unstable air associated with the system brings the possibility of funnel clouds to the area, mainly over the coastal and valley areas until late this afternoon.
