Families are not our enemy

"The only thing to fear, is fear itself," - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It is not the Muslims or the Islamic religion that is our enemy, it is the fear created by extremist terrorists. Fear is what they want to make and fear is the enemy. As long as we remain sane, keep our humanistic values and think clearly, they will not win. They will not accomplish what they want which is to make us act irrationally out of fear.

It is this fear that tells many to close their hearts and their borders or doors to the desperate people fleeing for their lives from Syria. These families are running from bombs and poisons dropped on them by their own leader and ISIS and Russia. They are not our enemy. They are us.

We are a country of immigrants and refugees from other countries who came here to escape religious or political persecution. Let us remember the only people here who did not come from another country are the Native American Indians.
