Boys & Girls Clubs of North County offer free lunch in summer months

Last updated 6/7/2012 at Noon

FALLBROOK— In San Diego County, one in four children are food insecure. Though approximately 178,000 kids are at risk of hunger, only 23 percent of children and teens access free meals in the summer time. This means that 77 percent of students who rely on free and reduced price meals are missing out on meals when school’s out for the summer.

Feeding America San Diego’s Summer Food Service Program and Boys & Girls Clubs of North County have paired up to administer this program at the local Fallbrook club. This program is a federally funded, state administered program.

Summer camp enrollees of the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County will be served a healthy lunch at no charge this summer.

The summer program also includes supervision by adults who make it a priority to keep the entertainment rolling for nine unforgettable weeks from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. June 18 through August 24.
