MiraCosta College to hold Spring

MiraCosta College’s Institute for International Perspectives (IIP) is seeking community members and groups interested in planning and participating in a Spring Cultural Expo, tentatively set for March 7-11 at MiraCosta’s three sites: the Oceanside campus at One Barnard Drive, the San Elijo Campus at 3333 Manchester Avenue in Cardiff, and the college’s Community Learning Center at 1831 Mission Avenue in Oceanside.

Each day of the expo will feature speakers, performers, and exhibits focused on a different theme. For example, on Monday, the art of various cultures will be on display. Other days will focus on food, clothing, music, and dance of other cultures. The goal is to offer a student- and community-planned event that will expose MiraCosta and the community at large to a wide variety of cultures. The college’s IIP, Black Student Union, MEChA group, and School Relations/Diversity Outreach Program won an Innovations Grant from MiraCosta to organize the event.

Individuals and groups who would like to contribute to the program of activities are asked to submit the following information: a contact name and e-mail address, times and dates contact person is NOT available for planning sessions in January and February, event ideas, and potential funding needs. The information may be e-mailed to [email protected] or mailed to IIP, Room 3443, MiraCosta College, One Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA 92056. For further information, call IIP at (760) 795-6897.
