RE: 'New airport discussed

I didn’t see the two original articles/letters (Meyers and Russell), but in response to Robert Green: Has he not read or does he not understand the ballot language? And, has he not read or heard that the Airport Authority has stated that “joint use will not work?” With that said, it’s obvious that if it will not work, that does mean kicking the Marines out. How much simpler can it get?!

While construction was a short boost to the economy in Denver, Aviation Systems Research Corp has estimated the cost to the Denver economy of the new airport at $200 million a year on into perpetuity. The cost of running the new airport has impacted the airlines also, and Continental has dropped it as a hub when they had to add an extra $40 on tickets for flights in and out of Denver. SDCRAA has proposed “additional airline ticket fees” to help cover the cost of an airport replacement for Lindbergh. We don’t want to find ourselves in the same predicament as the citizens of Denver.

Federal, state, county and city elected officials say Prop. A is wrong because of the impact to the Marines and to our economy. They can’t all be wrong. Elected officials jump at the chance to bring business to their area, and they know that, if passed, this would do the opposite!
