Learn about wildfire, grizzly bears, chaparral

FALLBROOK — Learn the mysteries of the chaparral, wildfire and grizzly bears through a presentation led by Richard Halsey and sponsored by the Fallbrook Land Conservancy. The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. March 29.

Halsey, a chaparral ecologist, writer and director of The California Chaparral Field Institute, will describe the chaparral’s unique natural history, why it represents such a vital link to nature for all Californians and the truth concerning its many myths and surprising mysteries. There will also be a short discussion relating to how to best protect homes from wildfire.

All this will take place in the Community Room at Fallbrook Community Center, at 341 Heald Lane, off of Fallbrook Street. The following Sunday, April 1, those who wish to do so will follow up that presentation with a brief field trip into the chaparral to examine its secrets firsthand.
