Democratic Club offers scholarship

The San Diego Chapter of Veterans for Peace is sponsoring an essay contest for high school seniors and veteran students in San Diego County. In support of local high school seniors, the Fallbrook Democratic Club will award a $250 scholarship for the best essay meeting contest guidelines from a Fallbrook High School senior. This award will be in addition to those awarded by the Veterans for Peace.

The essay topic: “Means and Methods to Establish World Peace without Violence.” In an essay, students should describe their ideals, values, beliefs and/or experiences relating to peace, justice and nonviolence. They should discuss practical ways of using nonviolence in their lives and describe what they hope to accomplish towards the cause of peace and justice. The essay should be approximately 1,500 words, or three pages single-spaced with 12-point type and one-inch margins.
