The Rotary Club of Fallbrook heard from Jim O’Meara, the 2007-2008 San Diego County Rotary District Governor, at a recent meeting.

O’Meara introduced the club to this year’s Rotary slogan, “Rotary Shares,” and spoke about past accomplishments as well as the tremendous remaining human challenges from around the globe, such as water management, hunger alleviation, health and education.

These encompass small projects such as digging wells to supply water for small villages in Africa to feeding and educating the millions of homeless children who are victims of the HIV epidemic and polio eradication in countries such as India. These are accomplished through Rotary International’s matching grants program, which puts Rotary clubs in more prosperous countries in touch with those in countries of great need.
