Rotarians adopt Camp Pendleton support battalion

Lt. Col. Matt Hess and Sgt. Major Tim Smith, Commanding Officer and Sgt. Major of the Marine 7th Engineer Provisional Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, were honored guests at a recent meeting of the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club.

The club has “adopted” this battalion, sending them items not supplied by the military when deployed to Iraq.

Lt. Col. Hess gave those in attendance a brief overview of the responsibilities of his battalion. Those include duties ranging from bulk fuel dispensing to graves registration. The engineers are one of the “centerpieces” of the support groups to...
