FALLBROOK — Rotary Club of Fallbrook President David Kauffman recently presented a check for $1,000 to Rotary Club of Downtown San Diego’s Kenny Jones to complete the requirements for a Ghana Microcredit Project.
The Fallbrook club’s donation was the final piece in the San Diego club’s $50,000 donation effort created from Rotaries within San Diego County District 5340. It will be matched with another $50,000 from Rotarian Terry Caster’s Foundation; $100,000 from the Calgary, Canada, District Rotary Club’s efforts; and $400,000 from the Gates Foundation.
The monies will be loaned to 4,000 women in Ghana to launch small business ventures in order to make them self-sufficient.
This combined effort is only one of the many matching grants programs being created within Rotary clubs throughout the world. For more information, go to http://www.rotary.org.
