Pageant to be 'A Star-Spangled Night'

FALLBROOK — Soroptimist International of Fallbrook has announced the theme of the 2008 Miss Fallbrook pageant: “A Star-Spangled Night.” The 12 contestants will perform a dance to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”

“This year’s pageant is a salute to our military veterans, active and retired,” said Patricia Harrison, pageant coordinator. “The girls will be wearing shirts from Marines who have been to Iraq, some for four times.”

The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Fallbrook High School.

A color guard will open the event and Kate Derr, Miss Fallbrook 2007, will sing the National Anthem.

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will serve as ushers. Marines in dress blues will escort the girls onto the stage when they appear in the evening gown portion of the program.

Tickets for the pageant can be purchased at Major Market.
