Crime prevention meeting Aug. 26

The Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee will hold a meeting on August 26 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1405 E. Fallbrook Street.

The meeting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. and feature speakers who will discuss how to achieve the goal of obtaining a gang injunction for a community.

Shawnalyse Ochoa, Deputy District Attorney for San Diego County, will explain what is involved in securing a civil gang injunction.

Julie Wartell, Crime Analyst Coordinator for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, will talk about crime mapping as an important tool to reduce crime in local neighborhoods.

Hector Meza with the San Diego County Office of Education will help increase awareness on gangs, violence, gang habits, characteristics of gangs, warning signs parents need to be aware of, gang apparel and what can parents/authority figures can do to intervene.
