Author De Sio visits Vivian Banks school

PALA — Vivian Banks Charter School, near the Pala Reservation, was host to published author and illustrator Delores De Sio on Read Across America Day.

On March 3, De Sio was a guest ‘reader’ at two student assemblies. She read one of her noted children’s books, “Distinctly the Duck.” This special book promotes health and wellness for all youngsters. Notably, the book works to build the self-image of its young readers. After the reading, De Sio autographed and donated copies of “Distinctly” to the school.

The event was sponsored by the Bonsall Education Foundation (BEF), which operates the Bonsall Certified Farmers’ Market at Bonsall Elementary School and Community Center every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funds earned at this and all BEF fundraisers benefit students at all four of the Bonsall district schools equally.
