VFW to stage Vet's Day parade, ceremony

FALLBROOK — VFW Post 1924 invites the public to attend and participate in their Veteran’s Day events on Wednesday, November 11.

The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Fallbrook Street and Main and proceed to Village Square, with the ceremony commencing at 11.

The Grand Marshall this year will be Dermott F. Barry, a past post commander. A special guest of honor will be Sgt. Kurtis D. Foster, recipient of three purple hearts.

Guest speaker will be Col. Daniel J. O’Donohue, Commanding Officer, 1st Marine Regiment. David Valley will share a portrayal of Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

The VFW encourages all veterans to participate in the parade; rides in vintage cars will be available for those unable to walk the distance.

There will be many military vehicles, the Fallbrook High School band, Honorary Mayor Gail Martin, Miss Fallbrook, the fire department, the local sheriff’s department, Sandra Kopitzke and her choir, the Fallbrook Chorale and Children of the American Revolution. All Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts are also welcome to join the parade.

Anyone who would like to participate is asked to arrive at the Major Market parking lot to assemble at 9:30.
