Sullivan Middle School, Bonsall School Board, Superintendent honored for leadership

BONSALL – Sullivan Middle School, the Bonsall Union School District Board of Trustees, and Superintendent Justin Cunningham were honored recently in Sacramento for raising student achievement and generating valuable new programs at the middle school.

The California Middle Grades Alliance 2010 Recognition and Appreciation Luncheon was held February 25, to recognize schools and school districts throughout the state for outstanding achievements.

“This award is a credit to our board, and to the staff at Sullivan,” said Cunningham. “It starts with the Board’s leadership, and it’s carried out in every classroom, and by every staff member. We’re very proud of the recognition, and we intend to live up to it.”

Sullivan was one of only three middle schools in California to exit Program Improvement status under the federal No Child Left Behind accountability system. That achievement enabled the staff at Sullivan to apply for a “Schools to Watch” award. Only two San Diego County middle schools were honored. Granger Middle School in National City was the other.
