Host families needed for Chinese students

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook will be the host community this summer for 30 students from China, from July 13 to 28.

Teacher coordinators for Cultural Homestay International, a nonprofit cultural student exchange program, are looking for host families who wish to learn about another culture and offer their gift of friendship for those two weeks.

The students come with some knowledge of English. While here, they will attend ESL classes everyday from 9 a.m. to noon and participate in other activities in the afternoon. The teacher coordinators are responsible for arranging all the activities of the program and for teaching the students.

A bus is provided for two out of town trips. Host families are invited to participate with the students on most of the scheduled activities. However, the program has been designed to support the busy family who cannot accompany the students during the day.

There will be a welcoming party for the students and a farewell party for the families. To volunteer, or for answers to any questions or concerns about the program, call teacher coordinators Peggy Weinman at (760) 695-2889 or Patsy Loughboro at (760) 728-6918.
