Clean Up/Recycling Day scheduled for Fallbrook and De Luz

FALLBROOK – On Sat., Sept. 25, the community of De Luz and Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green are participating in the California Coastal Cleanup Day sponsored by I Love a Clean San Diego (ILACSD) and California Coast Keepers. Those who want additional information or wish to register for the event can visit http://www.cleanupday.org.

In Fallbrook, from 9 a.m. to noon that day, residents can dispose of electronic appliances, cell phones, and paperwork for shredding at the dirt lot at S. Mission and Pepper Tree Lane. Industrial, automobile and heavy equipment batteries can be disposed of that morning at Battery Pros, 805 E. Mission Road. Old tires (no oversized or ones with rims) can be taken for recycling to 1050 Winter Haven Road (Fallbrook High back lot) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. Volunteers who would like to assist with the community clean up are encouraged to come to the South Mission and Pepper Tree Lane site at 8 a.m.

The recycling events are limited to individuals and are free to North County residents.

Residents are reminded that this is not a household hazardous waste event, meaning that no items such as paints, fluorescent lights, chemicals of any kind or similar items will be accepted.

In De Luz Heights, there will be projects on Sat., Sept. 25 and Sun., Sept. 26 starting at 9 a.m. Volunteers are needed for two special projects in De Luz Heights, Ross Lake cleanup, and graffiti removal.

In De Luz Heights, the meeting place is at Daily Road and Jones Road. Also in De Luz volunteers will be doing roadside clean up. They will meet at the Welburn Gourd Farm for this project at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday only. The plan is to get the entire road to town sparkling.
