Potter Junior High launches 20th Holiday Food Drive

FALLBROOK – Hoping to provide food for those suffering from economic hardship this year, Potter Junior High School students launched the 20th annual Holiday Food Drive on Nov. 29. Decorated boxes are located throughout the Potter campus to collect donations, including at the front office, the counseling office and Bowers Auditorium.

Students, their families and community members are encouraged to contribute

non-perishable food items to the Holiday Food Drive, which runs through Fri., Dec. 17. The school hopes to collect at least 10,000 non-perishable food items for the 20th annual drive. The donations will be distributed to the local Fallbrook Food Pantry and a Tijuana orphanage.

“Due to the economic woes of the community, the Potter Junior High Holiday Food Drive is greatly anticipated this year,” school Counselor Pat Donahue said, adding that this year’s theme is “Sharing Is Caring.” The school’s goal is to collect at least 10,000 non-perishable food items, as well as monetary donations.

A day of festivities is planned for Fri., Dec. 17, to culminate the drive, with school administrators shedding their locks under a barber’s shears, and local hair stylist Lynn Orcutt composing tresses with colored foam.
