Ruth Arlene Holmstrom Dillard

Ruth Arlene Holmstrom Dillard, (June 26, 1920 – May 23, 2011), lived a life filled with family, friends, service and gratitude. She was born in Ogallah, Kans. and grew up in Colorado Springs where she became an RN, and met and married Ed Dillard.

After WWII, they settled in Denver. They finished raising their four children in Southern California and moved to Fallbrook in retirement. Arlene was an active church member throughout her life, and finished as she began, a Lutheran. She cherished PEO, the family cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and was an accomplished seamstress and quilter.

Arlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by Ed following a 52 year marriage, and survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, twin brothers, and one small dog. Arlene remained unfailingly grateful for her family and good life. She was loved by many, and her graceful and generous spirit remains with us.

A Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 27. Donations to UNICEF (unicefusa.org or 1-800-FORKIDS) may be made in lieu of flowers.
