'Sneak peek' of mural at MaGee's Tavern

FALLBROOK – MaGee’s Tavern will host an unofficial unveiling of a new mural that has been painted inside the historic downtown restaurant building on Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.

Lifelong Fallbrook artist Brett Stokes created the mural, entitled “Where Fallbrook eyes are smiling,” for the establishment which is now owned by Robert Carr.

Stokes, who has his artwork on display in a variety of cities and states, said this mural will be the 10th large format piece he has created in Fallbrook. Stokes describes the newt mural as “an artist’s take on Fallbrook history with an Irish flair, meshing with a touch of signature whimsy.” It features likenesses of Fallbrook residents, past and present, which Stokes calls “a heartfelt honoring.”

“It is designed to create an atmosphere similar to public houses for friendly gatherings,” said Stokes.

The event will include live music and an extended Happy Hour.

An official unveiling is planned for a later date and will include signed posters of the mural art.

MaGee’s Tavern is located at 125 S. Main Ave., Fallbrook. Call (760) 731-0839 for more information.
