Fire damages Fallbrook hotel room

A fire damaged a room at a Fallbrook hotel Wednesday night and is being investigated by sheriff's detectives, a North County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

The fire was reported just after 6 p.m. at the Econo Lodge in the 1600 block of S. Mission Road, according to North County Fire Capt. John Choi.

Crews were at the scene within about 10 minutes, and the fire was contained by 6:24 p.m., Choi said.

One person was evaluated for minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department Bomb/Arson Unit was investigating, Choi said.
