Hazel L. Beckington

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Hazel L. Beckington, on November 29, 2020.

Hazel was born June 16, 1922 in Wardell, Missouri. She was the daughter of Tom and Eunice Clifton. She is survived by her children, Carol Thompson and her husband Jim of Wellesley, Massachusetts; Mark and his wife Sue of Pasadena, and Bruce and his wife Cindy of Phoenix. She was the proud grandmother of Drew Thompson, David Thompson and Amanda Alcala, and the great-grandmother of Adam, Addie and Andie Alcala.

Our mother lived an amazing life. She graduated as an RN from Missouri Baptist Hospital, after which she served in the Army Nurse Corps in the Philippines and Japan. After moving to Fallbrook, she was the director of nursing at Fallbrook Hospital in the 1960s and a nurse in the neonatal ICU at Camp Pendleton Hospital through the 1980s. In recent years she lived at Regency Park Astoria in Pasadena.

Hazel enjoyed her garden, tending the avocado grove, playing bridge and capturing pictures of sunsets. We will miss her.
