Senior center adds two new board members

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Senior Center is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its board of directors, David Schwartz and Matt Obermueller. Both bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the board, which in turn will offer significant assistance as we strive to greatly improve our Center in the next few years.

Schwartz was born, raised, and educated through high school in San Diego County. Even before graduating Michigan State University College of Law in 2009, he has focused on seniors' legal needs with the non-profit law firm Elder Law & Advocacy, first as a law student intern, later as a volunteer attorney, and eventually becoming a full-time staff attorney in early 2011.

From 2011 to 2015, Schwartz ran the Elder Law & Advocacy Conservatorship Clinic in largely rural Imperial County, and has spent the last six years at Elder Law & Advocacy's San Diego office as the staff attorney for the North County region, advising North County seniors on a broad spectrum of legal issues. "We are very fortunate to welcome David to our Board of Directors as we begin to expand our services and opportunities for the seniors of Fallbrook in this post-pandemic world," said Renae Rasmussen, senior center executive director.

Matt Obermueller, owner and operator of Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care services of North Inland San Diego County, came to the elder care business with a deep understanding of senior needs. Obermueller previously helped his father through some health issues, and this experience provided great insight into providing dignity and respect around elder care.

Obermueller is no stranger to the senior community. He has had a passion in this market 10 years prior, helping seniors manage their Medicare insurance needs. He believes that senior care work now fills multiple needs, and provides an opportunity for active seniors to provide noble assistance to others during their retirement years.

Personally Obermueller is a proud father to three children, Kennedy, Hawkins and Heston. He enjoys camping with his kids as well as going to sporting events with friends and has traveled extensively around the country and world. He is also a member of North Coast Church and has served as a volunteer in many capacities since 2015. Giving back to others, finding ways to support others, and community involvement are core values for him. He will be a tremendous asset to the board as it continues to improve the Fallbrook Senior Center.
