Delta Dental Community Care Foundation provides funding to VCC's dental and optometry program

VISTA – The dental and optometry needs of over 700 local diabetic patients have been met through the Vista Community Clinic and Delta Dental Foundation partnership. The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation partners with local communities to increase access to care, support dental education, fund research that advances the oral health field, and respond to disasters or other community needs as they arise.

In 2021, VCC’s dental and optometry program was selected to receive funds that would go directly toward patient outreach, staff training, and patient education.

Under the leadership of chief dental officer, Dr. Rebecca Cornille, the program has identified patients with diabetes who are at risk of oral and eye health problems and ensures that they are evaluated for, educated about, and when needed treated for the oral and eye diseases that diabetes can cause. VCC has added an integration coordinator, trained staff, printed educational materials for patients, and distributed kits that include toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, timer, alcohol prep pads, glucose tablets, cooler bag, and ice pack.

VCC is honored to have been chosen by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to continue their partnership for another year. The staff said they look forward to working together towards their shared goal of meeting the oral and healthcare needs of the community.
