Fallbrook resident killed in two-vehicle collision

BONSALL-On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m. officers from the California Highway Patrol-Oceanside Area office responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 southbound off-ramp to Old Highway 395.

An 18-year-old female driver, from Wildomar, California, was driving a black Jaguar XF on the off-ramp of Interstate 15 southbound to Old Highway 395. After stopping at the controlled

intersection, the driver of the Jaguar pulled into the intersection of Old Highway 395 and crashed into a maroon Toyota Venza, causing it to overturn.

The California Highway Patrol and North County Fire/Paramedics responded to the scene. The driver of the Toyota, an 86-year-old Fallbrook resident was transported to a local area hospital.

Unfortunately, despite lifesaving efforts, the 86-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Jaguar reported no injuries. It does not appear that alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the cause of this vehicle collision. The identity of the victim driver will be released through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and the CHP is asking anyone who has information or may have witnessed this incident to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at (760) 643-3400.
