St. Peter's students excel inacademic decathlon

FALLBROOK — Three students from St. Peter’s Catholic School in Fallbrook placed in their individual events at the Ninth Junior High Academic Decathlon in the Diocese of San Diego on Saturday, March 5, at Holy Trinity School in El Cajon. Sarah Lamont took a first place; Katelyn Ridgeway, second place; and Caitlin Froboese, fourth place. Twenty schools and 200 students participated in this local event.

St. Peter’s of Fallbrook was represented by 12 of their outstanding junior high students including: Caitlin Froboese in Religion; Katelyn Ridgeway in Fine Arts; Vivian Pham in Vocabulary/Fine Arts; Carrie Jercinovich in Math/Literature; Michael Froboese in Science; Sarah Lamont in Literature; Trevor Salyers in Social Studies; John Oppermann in Current Events/Religion; Andrew Donnelly, a generalist in Science; Emily Donnelly, a generalist in Social Studies; and two alternates, Marie LaMontagne and Diana Armstrong.

The winning students will compete in the state championship of the California Catholic Schools’ Junior High Academic Decathlon on Saturday, May 7.
