Pieces of garden art add interest to backyard

Sometimes half the fun of walking through a garden area is seeing pieces of garden art which have been used to add spark to landscaped areas. The home of Pete and Sylvia Tivador is a good example of how nicely manicured lawn and gardens can be further enhanced with clever art objects.

With a large, flat lot to develop around their new single-story home, this couple moved north from San Diego and started laying out plans for landscaping. For entertaining they wanted plenty of free-flowing space and a completely equipped outdoor cooking area. They added low sitting walls with brick capping around several interest areas.

Sylvia loves to garden and spends a couple of hours each day working with the plants and flowers. One part of the plan was to extend the concrete around to one side of the house for easy access to vegetable gardening in the spaces allotted.

Beneath the covered patio is a pool table ready for play. The patio extends out to a far corner of the property where a large lounging area gives a quieter place for reading or conversation. Wide stone pathways lined with mowing strips meander past the fountain and toward other garden areas to enjoy.

Wherever you wander there are small pieces of garden art that add touches of interest to the landscaping. In combination with the spacious lawn and gardens, these add a touch of sunny personality. Whether snails or frogs or chickens or pigs, imaginative art pieces add mirth to gardens everywhere!
