Fallbrook residents needed for Trauma Intervention Program:Adults and teens needed

Trauma Intervention Programs (TIP) of San Diego County, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that partners with police and fire emergency personnel and assists on the scene after a tragedy has occurred. They are currently seeking committed citizens for their crisis intervention program in Fallbrook and Bonsall to partner with North County Fire Protection District and the Sheriff’s Fallbrook Substation. Volunteers will be trained to help fellow citizens who are in distress as a result of a traumatic event. Volunteers respond to citizens in crisis following a natural or unexpected death or victims of fire, crime, flood, suicide, homicide or other crisis situations. Training begins July 7 — sign up now!

TIP’s 50-hour training academy runs July 7 through July 18 in Carlsbad at the Faraday Center. The fee for the training is $45 per person for training materials and National Trainer fees. Classes take place at night and on the weekends. No prior experience is necessary to attend the training or to become a volunteer. Interested citizens must be at least 16 years of age and have automobile transportation and insurance. We are looking for adults and teens who are available for either day or night shifts. For a complete schedule of training times and further information regarding volunteer requirements call the TIP office at (760) 931-2104 or check our Web site, http://www.tipsandiego.org.

The first few hours after a traumatic event has occurred are very confusing for everyone involved and TIP volunteers are trained to provide the necessary emotional first aid and other temporary support until the persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends and others. This allows the emergency responders to return to service more quickly and feel confident that the victim will receive the assistance needed.
