Sybil F. Edwards

Sybil F. Edwards died peacefully December 27, 2006, in Phoenix, AZ. Sybil was born October 9, 1920, in Alabama to Armendia and Jesse Hyde. She was preceded in death by her dearest husband of 61 years, Guy Edwards, and her beloved son Danny.

She was enrolled in nursing school when she met and married the love of her life. In 1946, after Guy was discharged from the Army/Air Force, the family moved to California and Sybil began her nursing career as a psychiatric nurse in a California State hospital. She moved to Fallbrook after retiring. At the time of her retirement she was an auditor assisting in the preparation of the budgets for the State hospitals throughout California.

Always a gracious and energetic lady, Sybil made many outstanding contributions to the community. She was a founding officer of The Fallbrook Quilters Guild, a member of the Fallbrook Garden Club and a volunteer at the Fallbrook Hospital. She also worked as an elections inspector at all voting events in Fallbrook. In addition, she loved to travel, had a passion for cooking, engaged in many artistic and craft activities, entertained friends and family frequently and participated in sewing and card-playing groups. Most recently, she was an inspiration to her family and friends as she met the challenge of cancer with optimism and courage.

Sybil is survived by son Martin, CA; daughter Yvonne, AZ; and sister Canatha Earley (Bobby) and brother Lytle Hyde (Sandy), both of AL. A private family memorial is planned. Internment will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. If you wish, memorial donations are being accepted by the Cancer and Leukemia Group B Foundation, Attn: Mary Sherrell, 230 West Monroe, #2050, Chicago, IL 60606.
