County attempting to compromise fire safety

and FORCE1

This is to notify you that the San Diego County Planning Department is now attempting to compromise fire safety throughout San Diego County in order to accommodate developers.

They are officially proposing Shelter-in-Place (i.e., advising people to remain in their houses during a wildland fire) as a new policy guideline for Fire Protection Plans because evacuation is not possible in many proposed new developments. This new guideline is open for public comment until February 26. (Although it was not publicized anywhere, we just recently happened to find out about it.) This policy has never been attempted before anywhere in the country and there is good evidence to suggest that many thousands will die in the event of a wildfire.

Please go to the Web site http://www.LLCFIRE.com and send an e-mail alert to your friends and neighbors to go to this site to read the information and respond to the county as suggested.

The county’s deadline for public comment is Monday, February 26. If we can get the word out about the Web site to as many people as possible and the county gets flooded by responses, we can stop them.

Note: This is a San Diego County-wide issue, not just a local issue. If you know anyone who lives anywhere within the county, please let them know about http://www.LLCFIRE.com.
