Still on the Hill in concert April 14

FALLBROOK — It’s hard to categorize the music of Donna Henschell and Kelly Mulhollan, collectively called Still on the Hill. It starts in the Ozark mountains, but when it’s done filtering through Henschell’s fiddle and mandolin and Mulhollan’s guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica, it comes out quite different. The sound is fresh and new, incorporating folk roots, bluegrass and jazz. Bluegrass audiences recognize the familiar acoustic instrumentation on guitar and banjo. Altogether, the effect is one of high energy enhanced by the ladies’ bright clothing and hats, dancing feet, bobbling fiddle and weaving guitar.

Still on the Hill will appear in Fallbrook on Saturday, April 14, at the Hilltop Center, 331 East Elder. The show is part of the Fallbrook Americana Music Series. For information see http://www.fams.us or call (760) 723-7255.
