There's help in controlling pet population

Spring is in the air and the birds and the bees have never been busier. We are all again reminded of the need to keep pet populations under control.

Low-income residents of San Diego County should know about the “Neuter Scooter” and SNAP (Spay/Neuter Animal Project).

Their phone number is (866) 772-9287. They offer extremely low prices (sometimes under $20) for “fixing” cats and dogs. They accept feral cats as well.

This wonderful service is done by veterinarians who volunteer their time to help animals.

If you think your animal is coming into “heat,” call soon, as they are inundated with calls and it can take a while to get on their schedule.

The SNAP people will also mail you a San Diego County voucher for vet clinics in the area (unfortunately, none here in Fallbrook, but several in North County) that will spay or neuter at a discounted “County” rate.
